It’s Race Time!
Race time has finally arrived! It was great to see so many people out pre-riding the course today. The course is in great shape and it should be a fun, fast race tomorrow. It was also good to see all the people at the Specialized Demo Vans testing out their 2012 product. If you didn’t get a chance to do that today, they’ll be out there tomorrow as well. If you haven’t registered for the race yet, there is still time. Race-day registration will be open until 30 minutes prior to the start of your race. If you’re not sure when that is, click on the schedule link on the left of this page. We’ll see y’all tomorrow!
Bring Bug Spray!
While setting up today, we discovered that the mosquitoes are out in force. Make sure and bring bug spray!

Prizes
Here’s a list of prizes for Bent Wheel Bash:
Cat 1 – Cash Payout
Cat 2 – Bontrager Cycling Shorts, Adventure Medical Kit Mountain Series Emergency First Aid Kit, CO2 Inflation Kit and Stan’s Sealant
First place gets first choice of prizes, second gets second choice, third gets what’s left.
Cat 3 – Raffle – there are some pretty cool items in this raffle, including a FeedBack Sports work stand which retails at $225. Make sure you write your name on the back of your race number and put the number in the raffle box!

Here’s the basic schedule for race weekend:
Friday, October 21
2:00 – Gate opens and camping spots are available
Saturday, October 22
8:00 – Expo area opens
1:00 – Race registration opens
1:00 – First-time racer’s clinic
1:30 – Abilene Guns N’ Hoses
2:00 – Shimano Youth Series Kids’ Kup (registration begins at noon)
5:00 – Registration closes
Sunday, October 3
7:00 – Registration opens*
8:30 – Cat 2 & Single Speed
11:00 – Pro/Cat 1
11:30 – Cat 2 Awards
1:30 – 12 & under/10 & under
2:00 – Cat 3
2:30 – Cat 1 Awards
4:00** – Cat 3 Awards
* Registration is open until 30 minutes prior to the start of each category.
** This could start earlier – it just depends on finishing times. We will start awards as soon as results are finalized so everyone can head home at a decent time. You’ll want to stick around for the Cat 3 raffle. There are some pretty cool prizes, including a FeedBack Sports work stand.
Fees
Gate Fee – $5 per car – You will get a sticker for your windshield. This is good for the entire weekend – you only pay once.
Camping Fee – $10 per spot – Once again, this is for the entire weekend. So, if you camp you will end up paying $15 total (one camping spot and one car)
All the fees benefit the Abilene Police Department.

Bent Wheel Bash T-Shirts
There will be Bent Wheel Bash t-shirts for sale this weekend. They are $10 and all proceeds benefit the Abilene Police Department. The t-shirts are black with the logo in yellow. Just imagine our logo over there on the left of this site as a t-shirt. You can purchase them at the registration area.
